Governor: AvtoVAZ may export 10,000 cars annually to China
SAMARA, Feb 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s car producer AvtoVAZ intends to export up to 10,000 vehicles to China annually, the government of the Samara region, where the carmaker is located, said on Monday.
“Foreign demand for cars made by AvtoVAZ is increasing … a meeting to discuss exports of 10,000 cars to China annually will take place in Moscow,” the statement quoted Samara Region Governor Nikolai Merkushkin as saying.
The governor said the meeting will be held on Wednesday to mark a positive trend for the company, which has not yet exported its vehicles to China. AvtoVAZ’s sales in Moscow and St. Petersburg have also risen, he added, expressing his hope that the company will be able to have profit next year.
“In 2018-2019, the situation may change and the company may have a profit. This will lead to higher salaries for the staff and a new basis for development,” he said.
